Perhaps the sweetest of all the saints, Maria learned at an early age to bring animals of all kinds to her with song--sometimes creatures that had never been seen before. While singing a nursery rhyme to her little sister in the hills of Guanajuato, there appeared before her two large wolves, one male and one female. Although Maria and her sister were frightened, they also felt a sense of calm and peace. It was then that the beasts revealed the mission and their challenge to the young girl. Maria understood, accepted, and headed North.
